Rise up at URBANA 22!

After years of waiting and preparation, including a COVID induced delay, the latest iteration of InterVarsity’s Urbana student missions conference started this week in Indianapolis, Indiana. Thousands of students from around the world have gathered here at URBANA 22 to rally around the call to Rise Up! for the cause of world missions.

Just yesterday we prayed with my father in law, who was deeply influenced for missions at an Urbana conference over 60 years ago. He went on to serve over 30 years as a surgeon in Africa. It was a striking reminder of how important events like this can be in the lives of students earnestly seeking their place in God’s plan for the world. I am excited to see the impact this generation will have in God’s kingdom!

Our main interest this week is supporting the recruiting efforts of GoCorps, an exciting mobilization ministry helping university students find a place where they can make a difference using their passions and skills in overseas missions. One of their catch phrases is “all majors to all nations.” I like the sound of that, because it implies the Lord can use everyone, and every skill, to build his kingdom. GoCorps has an online catalog of many various placements in dozens of countries waiting to be discovered.

Salt Ventures has four Goers serving currently in Bulgaria, and we have placements for lots more. We are looking for healthcare professionals, lab techs, english teachers, software consultants and travel planners, to name a few of the possibilities available.

If you are at the Urbana 22 conference, be sure to visit the GoCorps booth and have a conversation with them about your future. If not, contact us and we can help you get started!

We believe the world needs a new kind of missionary —and the 20-somethings are uniquely positioned to fill the gap. So we remove barriers for recent college graduates to serve globally for two years using their passions and degrees by connecting 20-somethings with strategic long-term projects and mobilizing others to support them in their efforts.
